Nomination for Songs

We have implemented a new democratic system which lets You choose the songs You want to sing. Cause if you love the song, you'll want to sing it right? So if you have any favourite songs that you would like to suggest, please head down here and nominate them. And if there is a music score accompanying the song you nominated, please do post the link to it as well.

Nomination for songs will end on 24th June 2010. After that the EXCO will have a meeting to pick the 5 most suitable songs for our TTBB choir, and voting for the one song you want to sing will commence shortly thereafter
.

Nominate here -

Alternatively, you can just send an email to saintschoir@gmail.com with your name and your song nomination. That's all.

And one more thing, please do not forget to practice the exercises in the Music Booklet every morning. Although I realise that I might be already too late, but Try not to damage your Booklet. Like Mr. Tay said before, they are imported and expensive, and are to be used for many more years to come.

THE x'mas party..

''coughs''

''coughs''

''coughs''

(pops a menthol)

Ok. Updates.

As all of you already know, there will be a X'mas party with the MG choir, on 11th Dec.
As usual, the venue's a little problematic, but we're quite good with problems, so what the heck.

This is the time where we'll be getting people from the choir to actually do the work, partly because the EXCO from both sides keep on doing the work. AND. WE'RE. POOPED.

So just keep your eyes on your facebook notifications, while we keep ours on Mervin, Azarel and Amoz. You guys may be receiving a little responsibilty for the party. :)

Fundamentals Of Vocalisation/ CHRISTMAS PARTY:D

Oh and here is the 'notes' for today's rehearsals

Fundamentals Of Vocalization

Reasons for going flat
-Not breathing enough
-Not lifting the soft pallet
-Not listening/tuning to one another
-Not tuning to the 'DO'

Erm.....
Our voices ideally should be Bright, Focused, Light and transparent.
Erm but there are also Dark voices and so on....
erm and there are the vowels which i don't know how to type out here :P

To solve airy sound, use nasal.
To solve soft pallet problems, use vowels and consonants.

Consonants.
-voiced(m,n)
-unvoiced(k,s,z)
-(ex?)plosive(k,b,p)

and a special word we learnt today
zeitgeist= spirit of times

Ave Maria(Rheinberger)

Tenors- tune to other sections more
-stop shouting?

Baritones-for bar 29 we need to come in on time so that we won't rush.
-sing smoother

Basses-need to have the same rhythm and listen to each other more
-need to be consistence

Must have this memorized by the 30th of nov.

CHRISTMAS PARTY :D
ok erm we are planning to have a Christmas party.
so if you have any ideas on what you want to have in the party please tag on the tagboard so that i can include it in the proposal which the teachers need to approve.

Rehearsal 9/11/2009

Hey!
Erm... Carolling is over.. are u sad or happy? ... anyway hope u all had fun :)
so now it's time to prepare for the workshop :)
ok down to serious work.
for those who did not come for rehearsal today we did lots of things.

firstly erm we completed Ave Maria?
things to take note
- staggering
1. No breathing before a bar line
2. No breathing right after a long held note
3. No Breathing in between words of a phrase
4. No breathing before a high note
5. No breathing after every system

-Basses
erm ... be more serious, focus and you'll do much better. Have MORE confidence in yourself also.

- Baritones
ya erm for the 5th and 6th notes of the score, bring it out more.
erm.. note the different rhythm between the dotted and undotted notes.
and for bar 27 and 28 you must remember to hold the note value for 2 whole beats( you're always cutting off too early)
then for bar 29 erm... dare to enter don't wait .
and just remember to stagger your breaths and not break.

-Tenors
erm i do not know what your problems are so i can't say anything :P

-Whole choir
erm.. learn to recover? and use less attempts to correct the things which we did wrong.
And be fitter?

Part 2
MAGIC songs :D
We shall create MAGIC :D

And heres a long(cutted short) story for you all to read

Magic Songs brings us back to an era whereby people believed that
songs could materialize things into the human world and not just
for the mere sake of pleasure.

In Spirit Culture, everything has it's own unique voice.

The aim of the singer is to unify himself with this "voice"

Anyone who knows or can imitate the special sound of something,
you also take on that object's energy. For example, if you know
the voice of a wolf and can imitate it,according to Spirit Culture,
you take on its energy.

By imitating the sound, the musician(magician) makes himself master of
energies of growth, purification and music without becoming the object itself.
For example, you become "master of music" without you turning into melody.

This art has three different steps:

1)Using sound to locate an object
2)Synchronize himself with the object by trying to hit the right note
3)It must hit the note peculiar(special)to the object concerned

The song's aim with unknown magical text in an unknown language is to
restore aspects of Nature being destroyed or severely neglected by Man

erm this is for the wolf song
Have fun :D
